Book Reading Levels using Accelerated Reader

It is very important for children to read books that are the 'right fit' for them.  If the book is too difficult or too easy, it isn't helping them to read it.  Here is a link to Accelerated Reader's book leveling site.  You can go to the website and look up any recent book your child was able to read, comprehend and enjoyed to find out the book's BL -book level.  Look at the book level of this book on the website and then you can search for other books at the same level by using the 'Advanced Search' tab.  You can enter a BL range and then find a list of all books within this range.  There are almost 20,000 books listed at the second grade level -2.0 to 2.9.
It is also a good way to look up the level of any book they may be interested in reading to check that book's level.

Below is an example of the a listing you will find on the website.  I have highlighted the book level- BL.  A BL of 2.5 means that it is leveled at a second grade, fifth month level.  That means that a student in the fifth month of second grade should be able to read this book.  A book with a BL of 3.3 would mean a student in the third month of third grade should be able to read it.  Obviously, this is  not a completely exact science so you want your child to read within a range of a few months.

I hope this makes sense.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
